Learn how to make an outdoor patio firebowl! Create warmth and ambiance for your spring and summer entertaining. The instructions are easy plus you can personalize your firebowl to make it unique!

In honor of Earth Day, join the Garden and nationally known garden expert, Melinda Myers, as we focus today and beyond on earth-friendly practices.
Plants and environmentally-friendly landscapes are one way individuals can make a difference in our changing climate. Using a diverse plant palette, planting natives whenever possible and appropriate, and keeping water where it falls – so it can be cleaned and filtered before entering the groundwater – are just a few of the strategies horticulturist, TV/radio host and author Melinda Myers will discuss. The focus will be on a comprehensive approach that can be phased in with strategies to fit various sized landscapes as well as those with time and/or budget restraints.
This talk will take place via Zoom and a recording will be available on Melinda’s website following the presentation.

About Melinda Myers
Nationally known gardening expert, TV/radio host, author & columnist Melinda Myers has over 30 years of horticulture experience and has written over 20 gardening books, including Small Space Gardening, The Garden Book for Wisconsin, and the Midwest Gardener’s Handbook. She hosts the nationally-syndicated “Melinda’s Garden Moment” TV & radio program and The Great Courses “How to Grow Anything” DVD series. Myers is a columnist and contributing editor for Birds & Blooms and writes a nationally syndicated garden column. Prior to her current media work, Melinda hosted “The Plant Doctor” radio show for over 20 years as well as seven seasons of “Great Lakes Gardener” on PBS. Myers has a master’s degree in horticulture and was a horticulture instructor with tenure. Myers was recently inducted into the national Association for Garden Communicators Hall of Fame. Garden Education Staff
Find a new way to have fun this winter! Learn the basics of snowshoeing as we head outside to explore ways that plants are adapted to survive winter and search for tracks and signs of animals. Dress in layers and be prepared to be outdoors for about 1 hour. Snowshoes are sized for ages 6 and up. Program will be held as a hike if there isn’t enough snow for snowshoes.

Rob Zimmer, Rob Zimmer Outdoors
This class is designed as an introduction to the amazing world of houseplants and indoor gardening.
Topics discussed include plants for different light levels, common mistakes people encounter with houseplants, the best varieties for all areas of the home, pet safe plants, and the hottest house plant trends. We’ll even include a section on using houseplants outdoors in your garden.

Budding Buddies
Wednesdays, February 2, 9, & 16 | 9:30-11 am
This nature day camp is specially designed for 3-5 year olds along with their adult buddy. Loaded with nature themed stories, crafts, hikes, and hands-on exploration, dress to journey outside, and go a new adventure every day!
One Day: $15

Cancelations can be made up to 2 weeks prior to the start of camp. A $10 administrative fee is charged for all cancellations, the remainder will be refunded to you. No cancelations or refunds are available with less than two weeks notice. If camper must cancel for medical reasons, including COVID-19, full refunds are provided. Step back in time and explore the English Cottage Garden with Lindsay! Here you will find a vibrant mix of old-fashioned flower varieties, herbs, vegetables, and even some on-trend annuals.
Learn the design principles of an English Cottage Garden as well as some of Lindsay’s favorite cottage plants. We hope that you will leave inspired to add a little bit of cottage into your garden!

Come join us as we upgrade two old-time methods of preserving the harvest to include some new materials, methods, and safety precautions.
You will learn how to store and preserve vegetables in ways that maintain and even improve quality and nutrient availability. You will make a jar of fermented vegetable product while exploring methods for root cellaring – live vegetable storage – that you can do on a small scale at home.
